Today, the new web 3 gaming studio, Emergent Games, is announcing the launch of an alternative reality game (ARG), The End, on June 29. It is the first installment in a series of planned digital and immersive activities, leading to the launch of the first web 3 AAA massive multiplayer online (MMO) game Resurgence.

The End is the first part of the game’s world-building phase – an interactive story living experience that introduces the setting, main characters and politics that make up the game’s intriguing story.

As the genesis of Resurgence, the prologue leverages digital channels, including websites and social media platforms, to create a powerful narrative. The End immerses players from the beginning of the Resurgence tradition, making them part of the story. Players sign up through an email portal and are invited to digital platforms to investigate mysteries, share information, and earn rewards that are truly valuable in the Resurgence world.

Emergent Games is also launching a range of 1000 Resurgence Cryotag NFTs in limited edition, offered exclusively through a free mint invite. A limited number of cryotags will also be available by playing The End. Players must register for the Resurgence newsletter to participate in the competition.

The End will be followed by major game drops from Resurgence, including a mobile app and a single player game, ahead of Resurgence’s MMO phase in 2024.

Founded earlier this year, Emergent Games pledged to attract 2.7 billion gamers through a “game first” motto, supported by a “free to play” and “choose to own” ecosystem. It is a joint venture between London-based digital entertainment studio Maze Theory and crypto technology and operations company Pluto Digital, which invested $7.6 million as part of the deal.

This partnership combines blockchain expertise and immersive gaming prowess to form a company at the forefront of the new decentralized gaming industry and launch the first AAA web 3 game.

The game studio is made up of a team of exceptional digital creatives with an illustrious collective gaming history, including Wonderbook, The London Heist, Peaky Blinders: The King’s Ransom, Doctor Who: The Lonely Assassins, Knightmare, FIFA, House of the Dead, Blood and Truth, Gran Turismo and Horizon Zero Dawn.
