Florida man stole crypto fortune from 61-year-old victim
Aaron Daniel Motta, a 27-year-old Florida cybersecurity expert, has been charged with felony after stealing $575,000 in crypto from an elderly victim, The Tampa Bay Times reports:†
Motta managed to steal a Trezor cryptocurrency hardware wallet along with the password while installing a security system at the victim’s home.
Trezor and other hardware wallets allow their customers to store a whole range of cryptocurrencies offline.
He was released on bail Friday after paying $60,000.
As reported by U.Today, an elderly Dublin woman was arrested in February for defrauding her victim of one million euros.
Last week, Trezor customers were targeted by fake data breach emails.
