Although this is Apple’s first event of 2022, due to the ongoing pandemic, it will remain a digital affair and no members of the media are invited to attend in person. But you can check it out on Apple’s event site and Apple’s YouTube channel.

What to expect from the Apple event in March?

Apple is expected to announce the next-generation version of the iPhone SE with support for 5G, a redesigned iPad Air tablet and at least one Mac with an Apple silicon chip. The new Mac could be the Mac mini or the 13-inch MacBook Pro or both. The only official clue we have is the invitation from Apple, which teases that we can expect “peek performance”.

Yes, you read that right: Peek, not peak.

iPhone SE

The third-generation iPhone SE is expected to resemble the second-generation model available now, with no design changes. It should have thick bezels, a Touch ID Home button, an updated A-series chip (possibly the A15) and 5G connectivity. It is believed to be Apple’s most affordable 5G iPhone.

iPad Air

The next-generation iPad Air will also remain unchanged in the design department, but it will be treated with some improved internals, which may include a faster chip (probably the A15) and 5G connectivity. It could also get a new FaceTime camera that supports the Center Stage feature, so you can stay in the frame even as you move around a room.

Apple is rumored to be developing a more expensive Mac mini with an updated design and M1 Pro and M1 Max chips. It should replace the current Intel ‌Mac mini‌ options.

There have also been rumors for some time about a new version of the 13-inch MacBook Pro that is equipped with an M2 chip (the successor to the M1 chip). It will look like the current 13-inch model; it will just be a lower version of the 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models with ‌M1 Pro‌ and ‌M1 Max‌ chips.
