LEGO Brings Back Two Iconic Themed Sets In Giant Glorious Fashion – Review Geek

LEGO

Celebrating 90 years of LEGO, your favorite brick building company has released some iconic themed sets that are bigger than ever. We’re talking a remake of the original 1979 Galaxy Explorer starship and a massive 4,514-piece medieval castle.

Both new LEGO sets go straight into nostalgia, offering designs that fans will love. They are part of the popular LEGO Icons range and are sure to be a hit on your LEGO shelf. First up is the Galaxy Explorer remake, then we’ll share a few details about the Lion Knights’ Castle.

LEGO Galaxy Explorer spaceship

The first is a fan favorite, and of course we’re talking about the Galaxy Explorer starship. The iconic Galaxy Explorer set from 1979 is back and bigger than ever. In fact, it’s almost twice the size of the original, measuring 20.5 inches long, 12.5 inches wide, and about 5 inches high. I don’t know about you guys, but that’s the perfect size for my display case.

As expected, the new LEGO Galaxy Explorer comes with four astronaut minifigures, the 4-wheeled helper rover and all kinds of other nostalgic parts. Each astronaut can fit in the cockpit of the spaceship, or you can take one back and find a tool compartment in the back of the ship.

While there are four seats for all four astronauts, you’ll also find living areas with two beds, a computer, storage bins, and more for the entire crew. Obviously they need to sleep as they roam the space. The ship stands on three retractable landing legs and, like most LEGO sets of recent times, has opening doors, a rear hatch, a retractable ramp for the rover and more.

The bigger, better, nostalgic Galaxy Explorer has 1,246 bricks and should make any fan happy when it hits shelves for $99 starting August 1. Grab yours from the link below.

LEGO Lion Knight Castle

As any LEGO fan knows, castle builds are some of the best and most satisfying. Unfortunately, LEGO hasn’t released a fantastic castle set for a long time, but that is about to change. The all new LEGO Lion Knights’ Castle has 4,514 pieces and combines several castle themes that we all loved from yesteryear.

LEGO

Not only will you spend hours building this gigantic castle, inspired by ancient structures, but you’ll also enjoy 22 minifigures. We are talking about a king, queen, wizard, archers, castle dwellers and a whole bunch of minifigures to place around the castle like in the city market.

As you build this epic castle you will notice all kinds of secret hideouts for the forest people, dungeons for the drunken city and special passages behind trapdoors like any good medieval castle. We also like that LEGO has made the castle drawbridge, portcullis, mill waterwheels and more all movable.

So, raise that drawbridge, let in the horses and the ox, and place archers on all the pillars to keep everyone safe. This intricate new castle is over 14-inches high, 17-inches wide and 12-inches deep when closed, and it’s even bigger when you open it all up.

The new LEGO Lion Knight Castle will be available August 8 for $399 at the link below.
