Samsung Galaxy S22 vs S22 Ultra: rumors of differences

(Pocket Ribbon) – Samsung will announce its next flagship Galaxy S series on February 9 at the Unpacked event, with the Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22 Plus and Galaxy S22 Ultra all expected.

While no official details will be shared until the event, there have been a lot of rumors about the three devices.

With that in mind, based on the speculation, we compare how the three Samsung Galaxy S devices from 2022 are expected to compare. Which one will be right for you?

The Samsung Galaxy S22 and S22 Plus are expected to look similar except for their physical size, while the S22 Ultra is expected to have a slight difference in design from its two siblings.

Based on the renders, all three devices will come with a centralized camera with punch holes on the top of their screens, but while the S22 and S22+ are expected to have three camera bodies on the rear, the S22 Ultra would come with a quad-camera setup. rear camera.

The Galaxy S22 and S22 Plus have leaked with rear camera bodies that match the backs of the phones in color, while the S22 Ultra appears to have the camera lenses out of a housing. The S22 Ultra is also expected to offer an S Pen built into the design, as the Galaxy Note series used to offer.

The S22 and S22+ would both be available in white, pink, phantom green and black. The S22 Ultra would be available in black, green, burgundy and white.

Water resistance is expected on all three models, but while the S22 Ultra is thought to opt for a glass back, the S22 and S22+ are expected to have a plastic back, just like their predecessors.

The Samsung Galaxy S22 is rumored to come with a 6.06-inch display with a Full HD+ resolution, while the S22+ comes with a 6.55-inch display, again with a Full HD+ resolution.

Their screens are expected to be flat and are expected to support HDR10 as well as a variable refresh rate of 120Hz.

The S22 Ultra is expected to have a 6.81-inch screen with a Quad HD+ resolution, making it the largest and sharpest of the three devices. It is also expected to have a slightly curved display and like the S22 and S22+ HDR10 and a variable 120Hz refresh rate are expected.

Hardware and Specifications

All three Samsung Galaxy S22 devices are expected to run on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor or the recently announced Exynos 2200 chipset, depending on the region.

Rumor has it that the S22 and S22+ will both come with 8GB of RAM and storage options of 128GB and 256GB. However, the S22 Ultra would come with options of 8 GB and 12 GB of RAM, with storage options of 128 GB for the 8 GB model and 256 GB of 512 GB for the 12 GB model. None of the models are expected to offer microSD support.

In terms of battery capacity, rumors claim that the S22 will have a 3800mAh battery, the S22+ a 4600mAh battery and the S22 Ultra a 5000mAh battery. However, the charger is not included in the box, with only the USB-C cable provided.

The Samsung Galaxy S22 and S22+ are rumored to come with a triple rear camera, consisting of a 50-megapixel main sensor, plus two 12-megapixel sensors for ultra-wide-angle and telephoto, with a telephoto camera capable of 3x zoom.

Meanwhile, the Galaxy S22 Ultra is believed to have a quad-camera on the rear, consisting of that 108MP main sensor with an f/1.8 aperture, a 12MP ultra-wide sensor with f/2.2 aperture, and two 10MP telephoto lenses – one with a single aperture. f/4.9 aperture and 10x zoom, the other with f/2.4 aperture and 3x zoom.


Based on the speculation, it appears that the Samsung Galaxy S22 and S22+ will share the same design and specs expected for physical size and battery capacity.

The S22 Ultra will seemingly be the largest of the three devices and the most capable in terms of camera, but also offer an increase in screen resolution, RAM, storage and battery capacity.

Nothing has been officially confirmed yet, of course, but we will update this feature once the details are in.
