Sony WH-1000XM5 Headphone leak suggests sleek new design India News, The Indian Express
While we’ve heard a few reports about Sony’s upcoming WH-1000XM5 headphones, we recently received our first major leak and revealed a lot of exciting information. Includes a sleek new design, significantly longer battery life, improved ANC and more.
Sony’s current premium headphone offering is excellent, the WH-1000XM4, which offers some of the best noise cancellation in the industry and is a viable alternative to the AirPods Max or Bose QC45. However, since these came out in August 2020 and are almost two years old, they need to be rebooted.
And it looks like that’s exactly what we’re going to get. According to leaked images that appeared on TechniqueNewsSony is gearing up to release a new set of WH-1000XM5s with a comfortable new design.
The leak suggests Sony will use a new rotating stem to attach the headband to each earcup, something we’ve been seeing from other manufacturers lately. In addition, we see an improved headband, lots of comfortable padding and two stylish color options.
Pictures aside, this information suggests that Sony has managed to increase battery life from 30 hours to 40 hours with ANC, which is a significant improvement. They still charge via USB-C and take about 3.5 hours to fully charge.
We also see reports of Bluetooth 5.2 support, an optional 3.5mm headphone port for wired use, not to mention a new processor and sound driver for improved ANC and better sound. It will be hard to beat the noise cancellation of the XM4s, but we’ll have to wait and see.
Unfortunately, there are no details on the price or release date, but we assume that they will arrive around August, just like the previous generation.
