What is We Own This City about?
We Own This City is based on the book of the same name by Baltimore Sun Reporter Justin Fenton. It sees the makers of The Wire, David Simon and George Pelecanos, back in Baltimore in 2015, telling the story of the corruption within the city’s police force, with the man (Sgt. Wayne Jenkins) leading the drug and crime crisis in the city has to solve. it instead works to his and his unit’s advantage.
The show’s official synopsis says We Own This City will “cover the corruption and moral collapse that befell an American city defending its policies of drug prohibition and mass arrest at the expense of actual police work.”
The trailer, meanwhile, shows a drug attack led by Sgt. Wayne Jenkins (Jon Bernthal) who is the head of “a plainclothes unit that went completely rogue and started to hunt and rob civilians as well as drug dealers” which is what you see happening. We’re not going to lie, we’re excited.
